As can be seen from the small licence plate recesses, this is the US version of the Golf V6, marketed under the trade name GTI VR6. The 24V engine (MKB: BDF) produces 200PS (147 KW) and is technically comparable to the latest evolutionary stage of its European counterpart, the reliable BDE engine. A special feature of the US version is that this VR6 has front-wheel drive instead of 4WD.

Shortly after first delivery in the USA, this Golf was registered in the Netherlands on 28.03.2003, where it ran to its last owner until March of this year, before I brought it to Germany. The official export document has already been drawn up so that the vehicle can be registered in any country under the respective national conditions.

The vehicle is largely in its original condition. Only the xenon headlights (original), the trailer coupling, other rims and a flap in the exhaust system that can be opened by radio transmitter (for a sporty sound) were retrofitted.

This GTI is technically in a solid condition. Everything is in working order, including all electrical functions and the air conditioning still cools very well. The last owner was a car mechanic and that is now paying off. He recently renewed the drive chain including attachments and carried out an inspection. The engine therefore runs silky smooth, powerful and without misfires. The gearbox shifts easily and precisely. The low mileage of 160,388 km has been proven by the service booklet as well as confirmed by a database query (see last picture).

The only defects are that the airbag indicator light is on - according to the fault memory, a defective sensor on the seatbelt buckle is the cause - and that the bulb from the left xenon headlight needs to be replaced.

Apart from minor cosmetic damage, the bodywork is in excellent condition. The only defects are a dent on the rear bumper, scratches on the right mirror housing, a rust spot on the bonnet (see pictures) and a few very small dents (not visible in the pictures).
