The Andros Trophy is a French car competition, which takes place on ice with cars similar to those used in rallies
Born as an idea in 1985 between the pilot Max Mamers and the president of the French company Andros (jam factory) Frederic Gervason the first race was held on 27 January 1990 in Serre Chevalier. The first edition consisted of four events.
The championship grew rapidly, with a race in Paris (Pelouse de Reuilly) in 1991 that brought the series to five races. In 1992 the number of appointments increased to seven, and then passed, in recent years, to eight.
The trophy took part, and still takes part, thick drivers, world rally champions, track speed and formula 1

The cars used in the Trophée Andros were completely similar to those used in rallies for technology, even if above all those of the 90s-2000s were real prototypes, in some respects comparable to the legendary Group B that ran in rallies.
The Opel Astra 3.0 was built in 1994 by Snobeck Racing for Opel Motorsport and has participated in various editions of the Andros Trophy, as well as various dirt track and ice racing competitions.With this car they raced mainly in the 90s, drivers such as – Markku Alen (World Rally Champion) – Michel Ferté (ex Ligier F1 test driver and 13 participation in the 24 Hours of LeMans)
In 1996 Markku Alen on Opel Astra paired with Frenchman Eric Hélary (known for his 1993 LeMans 24-hour victory at the wheel of the Peugeot 905) won the famous Chamonix 24 Hours.
