Dodge Deluxe Classic Cars for Sale

The Dodge Deluxe was manufactured by American company Dodge from 1946 until the beginning of 1949. The Dodge Deluxe is a 'full-size' vehicle that could be purchased in a variety of body styles. It was built as a two or a four-door sedan or as a two-door coupe. The Dodge Deluxe was built as a replacement for the Dodge Model DU and was itself replaced in 1949 by the Dodge Meadowbrook. The production of the Dodge Deluxe was continued in Canada until 1950.

The facts about the Dodge Deluxe

On its introduction in 1946, the Dodge Deluxe was seen as the vehicle with the lowest trim level of the Dodge D-24 series. There was a significant difference between the Dodge Deluxe and the top trim level (Custom), which was especially prevalent in the cabin. The Dodge Deluxe came without the custom finish on the interior trim and seating and didn't have the duel electric windscreen wipers. Unlike the Custom, the Dodge Deluxe wasn't fitted with the chrome beading around the windows.

The good thing about the Dodge Deluxe was the choice of styles, which was seen as an excellent marketing feature. All of the Dodge Deluxe models were built on a 119.5-inch wheelbase. They were powered by a big six-cylinder engine with a three-speed manual transmission. There was a 'fluid drive' offered by the company, which meant that there was no metal/metal contact between the drive and power source. The Dodge Deluxe could only be purchased with a petrol engine, and there was no diesel option.

Changes to the Dodge Deluxe during the three years of production.

In 1947, which was the second year of production, there were only minimal changes to the Dodge Deluxe. From December 1 of 1949, all Dodge Deluxe sales were considered to be 1949 models for the purpose of registration, but it wasn't until April 1949 that the new range was introduced with the new Meadowbrook generation, which is now used to describe the lowest level of trim for a full-size model.

In Canada, the Dodge Deluxe was produced until 1950 for Plymouth-base cars, which were lower priced units. These cars corresponded in the main to the popular Plymouth Deluxe, with the addition of some Dodge trimmings.
