Classic Line | Engine rebuilt | Technology renewed
This Golf I Cabriolet has been in my possession since July 3, 2007. I bought it from my aunt back then, at a time when I was still training to become an automotive mechatronics technician. After nearly twenty years together, I am now looking for a new owner who will not only preserve this Golf, but also drive it.
My goal was never to create a pure showpiece, but rather a classic car that looks good and can be relied upon. For this reason, the technology was comprehensively restored in 2021 at a mileage of around 298,000. The engine was thoroughly rebuilt by Motorencenter Bohlender, and almost all areas relevant to reliability, safety and driving behavior were inspected, refurbished or renewed.
Since the technical restoration, around 8,000 kilometers have been driven. The result was therefore not merely completed, but also extensively tested in actual driving conditions.
BODY AND PAINT
In 2023, the body was repainted. As part of this work, the windshield, bumpers, numerous seals, window guides, trim strips and many rubber and attachment parts were also renewed or refurbished.
EQUIPMENT AND CONDITION
The Golf I Cabriolet is a Karmann Classic Line in Classic Green Metallic with the 1.8-liter 2H engine, 72 kW or 98 hp, and a 5-speed manual transmission.
Equipment includes, among other things:
• Original leather interior
• Heated seats
• Power steering
• Multifunction display
• H registration plate
• Main inspection valid until October 2027
The original leather interior is completely preserved and has honest, age-appropriate patina with light cracks. The convertible top was renewed in 2010 and is in very good condition.
I am currently not aware of any technical defects. All electrical and mechanical components function properly. To the best of my knowledge, the Golf has not suffered any accident damage.
DESIGN AND SUSPENSION
The Golf is largely in an original or faithfully restored condition. Some details were deliberately modified to emphasize its clear design language and improve its driving behavior.
The original twin-headlamp front end was reduced to two headlights and combined with a three-piece VW radiator grille. Black indicator lenses were fitted more flush into the bumper using spacer sleeves. As part of the repaint, the body was also adapted for the narrow side moldings.
The registered Eibach Pro spring set in combination with Monroe shock absorbers provides a subtle lowering and a slight optimization of the suspension. The aim was not extreme lowering, but rather more precise and less spongy handling than with the original standard suspension.
Contemporary, likewise registered 16-inch Ronal Aero wheels complement the understated appearance.

A NEW CHAPTER
After nearly twenty years together, the Golf now stands as I always wanted it to: technically reliable, visually clean and thoughtfully considered down to the smallest detail. The restoration is complete, and the result has been tested over around 8,000 kilometers.
Since I now drive it only rarely, I have decided to place it in new hands. I hope to find a new owner who appreciates its history and the effort invested in it – and who will enjoy it just as much as I have in the future.
Viewing by appointment. A test drive is possible with me as the driver for insurance reasons.
Private sale excluding liability for material defects. No warranty or returns.
