The Porsche 911 S 2.4 occupies a unique and highly coveted position in 911 history, with 1972 marking the only year of the distinctive 'Olklappe' (oil flap) cars. Instantly recognisable by the external oil filler flap located on the right rear wing, this one-year-only feature was introduced to improve weight distribution but quickly withdrawn, making these cars among the most sought-after early 911 variants today. Of the total production, only a very small number were produced in right-hand drive S specification, making surviving UK-supplied examples particularly rare.

This car is an original UK-delivered 911 S 2.4, with production completed on 6th June 1972, and has remained in long-term ownership since the early 1990s. After a short period of regular use, it was subsequently placed into storage, where it has remained largely undisturbed, presenting today as an exciting and highly worthwhile restoration opportunity.

Importantly, the car retains its original engine, as confirmed by its accompanying Porsche Heritage Certificate, and is finished in its factory-correct and highly desirable colour of Tangerine (2323), which it still wears today. This vibrant and period-defining shade perfectly complements the early 911's iconic shape and adds to the car's desirability. The specification is particularly impressive and includes a number of rare and valuable factory options. These include Recaro sports seats, electric sunroof, limited-slip differential, coloured glass, electric windows, rear wiper and chrome wheelarch trims. Of particular note is the presence of front and rear Koni dampers when new; the car retains Koni units at the front, while Bilstein B6 dampers are currently fitted to the rear, with the original Koni rear dampers included in the sale. A passenger door mirror was also specified from new.

While the car would now benefit from some restoration, it remains complete, highly original and will be driven to the auction, speaking to its underlying integrity. Whether restored to concours standard or sympathetically recommissioned to preserve its originality, this rare 'Olklappe' 911 S represents a compelling opportunity. With its rarity, matching numbers status and outstanding specification, it offers significant potential and undeniable collector appeal. Consigned by Fraser Smith
