Beschrijving

AC Cars ,not only a legend but also one of the oldest brands in the automotive industry. Auto-Carrier Ltd. was founded in 1901 and built their first three-wheeler wagons in 1904. After the enormous success of these three-wheelers, which mainly scored in goods transport, three years later a passenger version was built, the Sociable. With this AC started their long and bumpy road as a car builder.

AC proudly carried the slogan "The Saville Row of Motordom"
One could choose from Drop-head coupes, convertibles, saloon and racing versions, all in both short and long chassis. Attention has also been paid to the smallest detail, for example notice the AC logo on the pedals. In addition, the model range was updated every year, which was exceptional at the time. This makes it almost impossible to find two identical ACs from the 1930s. In addition to the extensive choices, AC was highly renowned for its build quality and mechanically they performed at a high level. The 6-cylinder developed by Weller fed by three carburetors provided the car with 80 hp and was powered by a new 4-speed gearbox that still feels familiar. Their exceptionally low production and mechanical superiority make these cars highly sought after and a very exceptional appearance at any event.

For our car we take a leap to 1936 when this 4-seater sports tourer was built on the long chassis. The car was equipped with the heaviest Weller engine, the 80 hp version. Only 44 copies of this sporty roadster were made, making this an often sought after and especially exclusive model.
The car left the factory on March 9 and was delivered to its first owner, Mr Holloway. The history of the car has been fully documented by the AC owners club and has only known 7 owners to date. The history of this 75-year-old car is also exceptionally well documented. There are not only copies of the original build sheets available, but also various delivery notes and invoices and even correspondence between the owners and the AC factory. All this makes it clear that this car has always been in the hands of passionate collectors, which of course also explains its incredible originality and quality.
Not only the available documentation is exceptional, also the history of the car itself is very special. How many cars can say that they took part in the famous 1953 Ac race at SIlverstone, let alone were in the front row and that the photo was published in magazines and newspapers?

Not only a car to enjoy, but also a history to be proud of.

The car was fully "Nuts and Bolts" and Body-Off restored in 1989-99 by the AC restoration authority in Dorset. This extensive restoration took 60 weeks and the works carried out were also updated weekly and documented in every detail. All this resulted in 2 thick folders full of documentation, invoices and descriptions of the restoration
The AC got a refresh in its original beautiful Blue / Silver metallic. Repainted to exceptionally high standard. The interior is also covered with the original blue Connolly leather and features the unique stitching patterns in the seats and door trim.
All details were treated with equal care and you can see this immediately. The car is not only matching colors but what is even more exceptional for a car of that age: also fully matching numbers in terms of engine and technology.

The driving experience with this AC is not only unique because of its looks, but also a pleasure, because of the pleasant high seating position and smoothly shifting four-speed gearbox. Unique in pre-war cars. This car can be perfectly enjoyed during beautiful summer ballads and rides, do you wish to get sporty? Then you are also assured of a nice surplus given the age of the car at various rallies. This top-of-the-line motorization not only delivers excellent performance, the sound also sounds like music to your ears, and provides a suitable soundtrack for this cinematic picture.
