History
Introduced in 2001, the R230-generation Mercedes-Benz SL represented a significant evolution of the legendary SL lineage, combining Mercedes-Benz’s traditional emphasis on luxury and refinement with advanced technology and genuinely sporting performance.
The SL 500 was powered by Mercedes-Benz’s 5.0-litre naturally aspirated V8, producing 306 bhp and driving the rear wheels through the five-speed automatic transmission. Its combination of effortless performance, long-distance comfort and sophisticated engineering made the SL 500 one of the most accomplished grand tourers of its era.
The R230 also introduced a number of significant technological features to the SL range, including the innovative Vario roof, an electrohydraulically operated folding hardtop that transformed the car from a refined coupé into an open-top roadster at the touch of a button.
For the 2004 model year, Mercedes-Benz offered an extensive range of optional equipment, allowing customers to specify their SL with a remarkable level of luxury, technology and performance-related equipment.

This exceptionally well-preserved Mercedes-Benz SL 500 was delivered new in Germany in 2004 and is presented in an elegant silver exterior over a grey leather interior.

Its specification is particularly noteworthy, with a comprehensive selection of desirable factory options and equipment, including:

The combination of its very low 46,000 km mileage, German delivery, attractive colour combination and extensive factory specification makes this a particularly appealing example of the R230 SL 500.
The car retains the character that made the SL such a successful grand tourer: the smooth and powerful naturally aspirated V8, effortless automatic transmission, sophisticated suspension and exceptional refinement are equally suited to long-distance touring or relaxed open-top driving.
The panoramic glass roof is especially effective, allowing the car to retain the character of a coupé while providing the option of open-air motoring whenever desired. Combined with the ventilated and heated seats, premium Bose audio system , COMAND system and Keyless-Go, this SL offers an impressive level of comfort and equipment even by modern standards.
With its documented 46,000 km, German provenance, excellent overall condition and unusually comprehensive specification, this represents a highly desirable example of the Mercedes-Benz SL 500 R230.
