Mercedes-Benz's successful four-seater convertible
Mercedes-Benz’s successful mid-range 124 series was initially available from 1984 as a limousine, estate and coupé. However, a four-seater convertible was missing. This gap remained for 20 years, and work had been underway since 1987 to fill it. In 1991, the time had finally come: derived from the 300 CE-24 Coupé, the corresponding four-seater convertible was launched. As expensive and exclusive as ever. To broaden the customer base, a four-cylinder model, the E 220 Cabriolet, was added to the range from 1993. With an engine output of 110 kW/150 hp, it was well powered, and the ingenious electro-hydraulic soft top spared the driver the hassle of manual operation. From 1994, the E 200 model was also introduced. A total of 33,952 units were produced across all variants.
Our Mercedes-Benz E 220 Cabriolet is now with its fourth German owner. All service records are available. Fitted with a 5-speed manual gearbox, this classic car is a well-maintained convertible with plenty of potential for the future of classic car hobby.
