The ‘Real’ James Bond car.
The Aston Martin DB5 is an enduring cinematic legend, but not many people know that a DB4 Series V was actually used on set in the famous James Bond film ‘Goldfinger’. In fact, when the production team visited the Aston Martin factory in 1963 in search of the first definitive ‘Bond car’, they came across a red (!) Aston Martin DB4. They fell in love with this car, and the rest is history.
This specific car has a comprehensive ownership history from new and is complete with the old logbooks, factory records and a big file of invoices from the English restoration of body and mechanics.
Factory-equipped with the rare and desirable matching-numbers ‘Special Series’ Vantage engine, featuring larger valves, a raised compression ratio and triple SU carburetors, producing 266bhp at 5.700rpm – which was an increase of 26bhp over the standard engine.
The current owner acquired the car 17 years ago. The body was repainted in the Netherlands by one of the best paint-shops and the interior was re-trimmed to a very high standard. Presented as ordered new in ‘Fiesta Red’ and equipped with wide Borrani wire wheels and optional electric windows.
The car is ready to enjoy and runs and drives beautifully! Dutch registered.
