What a cracking find - only 3 owners for 38 years and showing seriously low mileage of just 27.250 miles
Many thanks to our long time chum Jules, who sourced this beauty for us
First supplied by Jaguar New York she was repatriated in 1988 and registered FTM 268L
The first UK owner kept her for another 17 years until 2005, at which time the mileage was still a trifling 25.000 (there is a letter to that effect from this chap validating his ownership and true mileage, although without a stamped service book we cannot validate this)
To be fair, the car was obviously a special specimen for he used his local Official Jaguar dealership for regular maintenance, Weybridge Automobiles
All bills are held on file and he didn't stint on service works or costs either
Clearly he loved his E Type, although seems he spend more time looking at her on his drive and than actually driving her
The next owner, a long term friend of ours, again purchased her from Bramley Motors
Fulfilling a childhood dream of owner a V12 E Type roadster, he bought the best he could find and put her beside his Ferrari Daytona Spider and his Helicopter
He kept her for 12 years and again, enjoyed looking at her rather than driving her too much, so the mileage was almost the same as when he purchased her
The last owner purchased her from Bramley Motors in 2018 and since we collected her we have carried out a full service and check over - actually not much was required and she drives so well
We've ordered a new hood bag, in the correct vinyl (not mohair) and apart from new gearbox mounts just normal service items were required - even the air filters looked like new although we changed them as a matter of course
Supplied with sundym glass, chrome wire wheels (fitted with the correct Dunlop SP sport tyres) internally adjustable drivers door mirror and a snazzy Becker Europa period stereo with electric aerial, for an E Type of this period, this is about as much as you could option from the factory or supplying dealer
My father had two of the V12 E's in period and I recall how smoothly they ran, how compliant was the ride and that at 100mph the engine was only ticking over at 4.000 rpm - phenomenal stuff
This one feels exactly like this and is one of the nicest V12's we've had for years
