Description

1929 Rolls Royce Phantom 1 Park Ward Indian Hunting car
Chassis number: 76OR
Registration Number: UV7914
Coming on the market for the first time in 40 years. This car was exported from India after the war & was based in Switzerland prior to being acquired by the current owner 40 years ago. We are currently reseaching the Indian history of the car but it is beleived that the original owner might well have been a big game hunting enthusiast and was J.B.A.Kessler of Beckenham, Kent. The car has an aluminum cowl that fits to the rear & a heavy gun transport box that installs below the rear cowl.
Coachwork is by noted coach builder Park Ward & takes the form of an open torpedo style tourer with twin windscreens to protect front & rear occupants alike. The bonnet top & upper surfaces of the body are of polished aluminium with the lower sections being a mid green in colour.
Mechanically the car is absolutely sound with an immaculate engine bay. The engine was fully rebuilt my Dorset based speciaists McKenzie Guppy not many miles ago. As a result the engine starts readily & runs in silence with excellent compressions & ample power. It is used regularly for short trips near its home base. The car has a full length hood that mounts over a removable frame that disassembles & stows in custom made slot in the rear of the body.
The car is part of a prominent Scottish car museum & may be viewed near Inverness by prior appointment. We can of course arrange world wide delivery of the car. We will post more infomration on the car as it comes available.
These Indian heritage cars always command a premium over more prosaic examples & this car is well priced compared to other Indian cars on the market. It is a magnificent imposing car that runs without fault.
