The Rolls-Royce 40/50 HP Phantom III was introduced on October 17, 1935 at the London Olympia Show. The first example was delivered in August 1936. Due to the outbreak of World War II, the number of orders quickly declined in 1938 and the last Phantom III was built in 1939. The Phantom III Park Ward Saloon at Classic Park was built in 1938 and is one of the later examples of the model. In 1940, when the hostilities of World War II had already halted car production, the car was shipped to the United States. The first owners were Augustine Leftwich and Elisa P. Humes who received the car in 1940. After that, the Phantom had several other American owners. In 2001, the car was shipped to the Netherlands. The current owner has owned it since 2014.

This Phantom III is a “Saloon with division” with a coachwork by Park Ward. The colour scheme is black and dark red with a full leather interior in the colour soft brown. The car is richly equipped with all kinds of “special features”. For example, this Phantom III has an electric division, a cocktail cabinet in the left part of the division, a provisional seat in the right part of the division, a sliding roof above the driver's section, two picnic tables in the upper part of the division, five 7.00x18” Dunlop 9.0 Pattern tyres, a spare wheel carrier on the driver's side, a bonnet with opening “shutters” and a kneeling lady (kneeling mascot on a pedestal).

From 1969 to 1995, the Phantom III was owned by Mr. William Barton from Florida. In the seventies, he thoroughly restored the Phantom III, of which a photo report has been preserved with the car. In the years after the restoration, Barton offered the car for judging at various prestigious RROC events in the US and won several important prizes. The prizes won (with inscription) have also been preserved with the car.

After the restoration, the Phantom III has been kept in very good condition by all owners. An extensive toolkit and technical manuals are also part of the car's documentation. Furthermore, the car has the original license plates and various spare parts such as coils and a carburettor base plate, a large number of gaskets, condensers, contact points, etc. The documentation includes a copy of the factory papers, a rare original brochure of the car, and a large amount of correspondence that has been conducted about this car over the last 60 years. This Park Ward Saloon is in very good condition and is ready to experience many impressive moments.
