At some point, the Jaguar model E (the icon) had to be replaced! So at the International Motorshow in Frankfurt in 1975 its successor, the XJ-S (later XJS) was introduced as a Coupé. It was completely different from its predecessor, a classic Grand Tourismo, more opulent than sporty. The model E enthusiasts were disappointed but with 112,052 cars sold, this new model was a triumph. The XJ-S with 12-cylinder was particularly popular in the US and it was later also offered as a Targa. Finally in 1988 there was a convertible version! Its solid, electromechanical roof developed by Karmann (Osnabrück/Germany) stands out and the car received rave reviews.
Our XJS 5.3 Cabriolet with V12 engine is a German delivery and currently with its second owner. It has low mileage (25,000 km) which adds to its "as good as new" appeal. It is registered in Germany. The reliable and powerful performance of the V12 is still impressive and makes driving this classic a real treat!
