For sale is a 1951 Vespa 125 V31 “Faro Basso”—an early Italian model and one of the highly sought-after wide-frame models from the classic Vespa era.
The vehicle comes with a comprehensive package of original and replacement parts.
The Vespa was imported from Italy to Germany in the 1990s and has been in my possession since 2001. One previous owner in Germany is known; no further information is available regarding its history in Italy.

Restoration
The scooter was restored with great care in 2001. The goal of the restoration was not to customize it, but to restore it as faithfully as possible to its original condition, taking into account the design of that era. Particular emphasis was placed on preserving the original structure: The body was pickled before painting and deliberately not sandblasted to protect the sheet metal. No welding work was visible or required. The Vespa features original sheet metal parts; however, the side cover of the luggage compartment and the front fender are made of steel, not aluminum. V2A stainless steel screws were used wherever possible.
Paint Job
The paint job was performed by a specialist shop using the original Max Meyer 6002M “Verde Metallizzato” color. The color was formulated by Sikkens based on a specific mixing formula; the color formula was provided upon request by the Fédération Internationale des Vespa Clubs Rome. The invoice for the paint work and the letter regarding the color formula are on file.
Even today, some 25 years after the restoration, the paint is still in very good and well-maintained condition.
Engine
The engine and carburetor were overhauled during the restoration. Wear parts were replaced with new parts or—where appropriate and available—with original parts. The choke rod, center stand, and other attachments were professionally powder-coated in gray.
To improve reliability and suitability for everyday use, the scooter was converted to a 12-volt system with a PX-Lusso ignition, a custom-made rotor, and a Polini CP 19 carburetor. All original parts required for a rollback are included in the offer, including the original ignition, original rotor, original carburetor, and the original electrical system.
The wiring harness is a faithful Vespa replica. The SIEM headlights are original. The original seat frame is included and has been upholstered in green faux leather.
The Vespa has been stored in a dry, warm garage for the past 25 years or so and was driven only occasionally with a red license plate.
Following the restoration, a §21 StVZO inspection report was issued; the German roadworthiness certificate is available.
