From 1963 onward, production of the P1800 moved to Gothenburg and the car received the name “1800S,” with the “S” standing for Sverige, Sweden. These later examples became known for their superior build quality and refined driving characteristics. In 1966, the engine was also upgraded with additional power, giving this Volvo that extra touch of smoothness and flexibility on the road.
