The Triumph Stag has always been designed as a convertible. This model was featured in the James Bond film “Diamonds are Forever” from 1971. The model originated as a design study by Michelotti based on the Triumph 2000. At Triumph's request, a steel shade was designed and a linen shade was adapted, so that there was enough headroom was for four people in this 2+2. Due to safety regulations and to get more torso stability, the builders added the T-bar. Initially, the Stag got a six cylinder engine, but soon the car got a V8. A total of 25,939 units were produced from 1970 to 1977. This example was produced in 1975 and is 1 of the 371 original Dutch delivered Stags. This is demonstrable because of the original purchase invoice that is present.
This Stag is very rich in documentation. These are papers such as valuation reports, inspections, repairs, manuals and registration certificates. This unrestored Triumph has a T-bar and a black cloth convertible top. The rare and original “Maple Brown” body color along with the interior is in beautiful condition. The Maple Brown color is quite rare and makes the car more desirable than the red ones. Also included is a hardtop in the same paint as the body. The Tan leather interior is a beautiful combination with the “Maple Brown” paint and the 14 inch alloy wheels, which were a very popular option. These can be recognized by the valve cap that is not placed in the rim but in the corner of the rim. It has always been well maintained and everything can be found here. It drives smoothly and comfortably on the road. The 3.0 liter V8 also makes a beautiful sound and functions nicely. Various options are available such as tinted glass, Moto-Lita sports steering wheel, Blaupunkt radio, electric windows at the front and a main power switch.
