Without doubt the best one of these we have ever had; also one of the very last produced. This car has been subjected to a painstaking ground up restoration by Marque specialists Ristes Motors of Nottingham. Well over £100,000 has been spent upon it not including the cost of the car itself.
The car is finished in Dawn Blue which is the original color the car was painted in by H. J. Mulliner; a non metallic blue which is neither light nor dark in hue. The paint is flawless with the body having been taken back to bare metal prior to the paint being applied. The Chrome Work was re-plated by masters of the art; Derby Plating for which there is an £11,000 bill on file.
Mechanically the car is perfection. The V8 engine starts instantly & idles in slow smooth silence; the engine having been totally rebuilt with new everything. Modern air conditioning has been fitted which blows ice cold providing respite from the summer sun. It is mounted with four directional vents below the dash & the usually central occasional table has been moved to the passenger side.
The interior wood work has been refurbished with the exception of the dash which was deemed to be in good condition. exuding a light patina of age. The original leather interior was also excellent so has been retained with a re-dyeing of the seats to bring back their original grey colour. The car thus has a pleasant "gentlemans club" feel to the interior rather then a "fresh out of the box" feel to it. New carpets have been fitted throughout.
On the road the car cruises effortlessly at speeds well in excess of our UK limits making one realize why they were attributed the continental moniker by the denizens of Crewe.
The car has covered a total lifetime mileage of just 90,000 which may be verified through the history file. An electric Kenlowe style fan is fitted as are seatbelts & a modern C/D tuner sound system tucked away discreetly in the glove box.
Interestingly enough. the car was used for the opening of the Edinburgh Bypass. being the first car to officially drive along the newly opened section.
This car may be viewed in Sweden by prior appointment. We sold it to the current octogenarian owner some 10 years ago & it has been maintained without regard to expense ever since.
