Description
PORSCHE 911 993 CARRERA TARGA TIPTRONIC 1996 MY 97
The Porsche 993 is the last series of air-cooled 911s. The Targa version was produced in just 4249 units. Designed by Englishman Tony Hatter, the launch version was available as a coupé or convertible with rear-wheel drive; the range was further expanded in 1996 with the introduction of the model with Targa bodywork (like the vehicle offered). A new multi-link rear suspension system in alloy was one of the major changes introduced by the 993 series compared with its predecessors. The benefits brought by the use of the new suspension were numerous: improved ride quality and stability, reduced tendency to oversteer, and a significant reduction in the noise perceived inside the passenger compartment. The **engine of the Porsche 993 was a 6-cylinder, air-cooled ‘boxer’ engine, with double overhead camshaft timing, of 3.6 litres, capable of developing a maximum power output of 285 HP, in this 1996 MY ‘97 version already equipped with the Varioram variable intake system. ** As for performance, according to the figures supplied by the manufacturer, the Porsche 911 993 was capable of reaching a top speed of 270 km/h and accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds. The versions produced from 1996 onwards, (like the vehicle offered, which is a MY 97), introduced some refinements. The rear exhaust outlets were no longer oval but square-shaped. **The Targa bodywork (a compromise between a coupé and convertible configuration) featured an electrically opening, tinted multilayer glass roof. **The vehicle offered was produced in Stuttgart for the American market and imported into Germany in 2015 with 45474 miles. Inspected and checked by us, it showed no anomalies and was therefore purchased in 2020. It now has 55867 miles, equivalent to 89909 km. The vehicle comes with all its original documentation and stickers, as well as various invoices for routine maintenance. It is equipped with many original factory options. Ready for use, it is a vehicle certain to appreciate steadily in the future.
