Description

The Range Rover is a large luxury four-wheel drive sport utility vehicle launched in 1970 and is now in its fourth generation. In 1967, the first Range Rover prototype was built with the classic Range Rover shape clearly discernible although with a different front grille and headlight configuration. The design of the Range Rover was eventually finalised and signed off in 1969. After 25 years from the introduction of the first-generation Range Rover, the second-generation Range Rover model, designation P38A, was introduced for the 1995 model year with an updated version of the Rover V8 engine. The new model offered more equipment and premium trims positioning the vehicle above the Land Rover Discovery to face ever increasing competition in the SUV marketplace. Just as AMG is synonymous with the Mercedes-Benz performance division and Fords with RS Cosworth, badges on the boot can always be relied upon to supply thrills on demand. Overfinch has been connected to Range Rover (and Land Rover) since the 1970's offering something a little more 'exuberant' to the world's best four-wheel drive car ever built. Overfinch, in association with the world-famous gunmaker, Holland & Holland, produced a limited-edition Range Rover in which standard extras of electric windows, electric sunroof, electric heated seats, tinted windows, radio, central locking, power steering and a stack CD player, were added. Other bespoke Holland & Holland features included unique saddle leather, gun stock wood veneers, picnic tables, satellite navigation, TV screens fitted to front head rests, Holland & Holland inlays, mud guards and over carpets and in some instances a bespoke gun cabinet.

Originally registered on 8th May 2000, this Range Rover is a 4.6 litre HSE Holland & Holland example is finished in Tintern Green metallic and fitted with a host of Holland & Holland extras including a rear entertainment system which when new was a £5,000 option!. Sadly, at one point in its life the Holland & Holland gun-box that was originally present has been removed but the bespoke wood remains throughout the cabin as do the HSE luxuries. This Range Rover is supplied with a V5C registration document, book pack together with a current MoT test certificate valid until 1st August 2024 and history file. Range Rovers are great to drive and a practical classic car making limited editions such as this highly desirable. Consigned by Mathew Priddy.
