Description

1954 Lagonda 3L Drophead Coupé by Tickford with Overdrive

Three-position convertible in British Racing Green with green fabric top, magnolia leather interior with green „piping“. 4-speed steering-column shift with electrically engageable Overdrive.

The car was delivered in London in March 1954. In mid-1960, at a mileage of 38,928 miles, a replacement engine was installed by the factory.

The car's second owner was Harold Radford, a renowned English coachbuilder who converted various English sports cars into estates (so-called shooting brakes).

The car was part of the Harry Ellard collection, which was dissolved after the collector's death in 1984.

This beautiful and very rare Lagonda has already undergone a comprehensive restoration, which included the bodywork, interior with top, and chrome parts.

Mechanically, too, the Lagonda is in good condition. The steering-column shift makes it a genuine 6-seater and therefore suitable for family use.

During the last owner's tenure, in addition to numerous other works, the wiring harness was renewed, the steering and front axle were overhauled, and the electrically engageable Overdrive transmission for 3rd and 4th gears was installed, making the car usable in today's German traffic. The jack system installed in the car was decommissioned for safety reasons (TÜV). However, it was not removed and can be put back into operation.

55 Lagonda 3L Drophead Coupés were built exclusively as right-hand-drive cars (50 Series 1 vehicles and 5 Series 2 vehicles). Technically, the vehicles are largely identical to the Aston Martin cars of the same model year.
