This Fiat 500C Belvedere has been part of my family since 1977, when my father, a classic car restorer, found and acquired it from its second registered keeper. At the time, it had already spent years stored away and used only sparingly, a quiet survivor of a bygone era.
Between 1977 and 1979, he carried out a complete, ground-up restoration. This was not simply a workshop rebuild, but the result of years of patient searching across the Italian countryside, where these Giardinette were often found abandoned in farmyards, chicken coops, barns, or discarded in ditches after falling out of use and as previous owners passed away. From these places, he recovered and carefully selected original components from around ten donor Giardinette and one Topolino, bringing together the best parts to faithfully rebuild the car.
The engine, braking system, gearbox, and rear differential were fully restored using this combination of original and period-correct components, resulting in a car that reflects both mechanical authenticity and the dedication of its restoration.
Since then, it has remained within our family, preserved with care, and is now offered with a substantial, fully catalogued collection of spare parts, along with my father’s original workshop notebook documenting every stage of his work and the history of its restoration. The car comes with about 5k worth of spare parts all cleaned, functioning and catalogued, some of which are hard to find.
