General model history:

The 1954/55 Tojeiro Halton Aston represents a fascinating era in British racing car construction in the 1950s. Developed by renowned designer John Tojeiro, who later created the chassis for the legendary AC Ace – and thus indirectly the Shelby Cobra – this vehicle was custom-built for a group of Royal Air Force pilots.

The car was built for the Halton Stable Racing Club, an association of motorsport enthusiasts from the RAF who participated in national races with great enthusiasm. The chassis follows Tojeiro's proven concept: a lightweight, torsion-resistant tubular frame with a sporty low centre of gravity and aerodynamic aluminium bodywork.

Between 1954 and 1957, the car regularly took part in national races at Silverstone, achieving considerable success:

  1. October 1956 – National Silverstone: 5th place
  • September 1957 – National Silverstone: 3rd place
  • October 1957 – National Silverstone: 2nd place

It is noteworthy that this vehicle was one of the first racing cars to feature disc brakes – a technological advantage that only a few teams had at their disposal at the time. Various engines ranging from 1.1 to 3.0 litres were tested over the years, underscoring the experimental nature and continuous development of the car.

Tojeiro himself was not only a designer but also a supplier of chassis for the Jaguar C-Type, illustrating the close connection between his technical expertise and the iconic British sports cars of the 1950s.

Explicit data about this car:

The car has been restored and documented true to the original, including its documented racing history and club history. Its combination of a Tojeiro chassis, handcrafted aluminium bodywork and early disc brakes makes it a rare example of British engineering.

This Tojeiro Halton Aston embodies not only technical pioneering spirit, but also the passion of those post-war years when enthusiasts with limited resources but great skill shaped the world of motor racing.
