Talbot Lago America TR340 – 1 of Only 9 Built!
For sale is an original Talbot Lago America TR340 with V8 engine, a model produced only nine times in total. The vehicle offered here is number 5 of the 9 TR340 cars built. All nine vehicles (chassis numbers 150.001–150.009) were built or completed between 1958 and 1959, although some were not sold until 1960.
After the sale of Talbot Lago to Simca, the original 2.5-liter BMW engine was replaced with a Ford V8 engine. The engine in this car is the matching-numbers engine.
The car was delivered new to France in 1959, featuring red leather seats with a black interior. The original delivery documentation is present with the vehicle.
In the 1970s, the car was purchased by Thomas Loiseau of Strasbourg, and in 1985 it was sold at auction. It then went to the United States, where it became part of the collection of the well-known collector Ed Waterman. In the early 2000s, the car was re-imported to Europe and underwent a nut-and-bolt restoration.
Today, the car is in excellent cosmetic and mechanical condition. During the restoration, the vehicle was completely rebuilt: engine, gearbox, and rear axle were overhauled, and the body was stripped to bare metal. The wood trim on the interior doors and headliner was restored as well.
The restoration was completed in 2015, after which the car was acquired by the current owner. He drove the car in the Bremen Classic and participated in several Concours d’Elegance events.
The vehicle is fully road-registered and ready for immediate use. A comprehensive history file, including detailed restoration documentation, is included with the car.
