The Porsche 964 holds a special place in the history of the 911. Developed in the late 1980s, it was conceived as the bridge between the classic air-cooled 911 and a new generation offering more comfort and modern technology, without losing its pure character. Within the 964 range, the Carrera 2 Targa is a particularly sought-after version. With rear-wheel drive and a lower overall weight than the Carrera 4, it offers a more direct and engaging driving experience. The iconic Targa concept, with its removable roof panel and fixed roll bar, allows open-air driving while preserving rigidity and safety. Only approximately 3,300 Carrera 2 Targa examples were produced in total, making it a relatively rare and desirable configuration today.

Our Porsche 964 Carrera 2 Targa was delivered new on 01/02/1990 to its first owner in Germany via Werksauslieferung, meaning the car was collected directly from the Porsche factory in Stuttgart. Over the years, the car has benefitted from a high-quality repaint from its original red color to a stylish period correct black paint. The car is very well specified with several desirable factory options, including the limited-slip differential (option code 220), which significantly improves traction and stability in corners. Enthusiasts who enjoy driving their 911 properly will immediately appreciate the difference. Further options include air conditioning, cruise control, seat heating on both sides, an electrically adjustable driver’s seat, rear window wiper, amplifier, radio preparation and a tinted upper band in the windscreen. The original option sticker is still present in the front trunk and is identical to the one found in the original service book. Power comes from the 3.6-litre M64/01 flat-six engine producing 184 kW, paired with the manual G50 gearbox. The G50 is widely regarded as one of Porsche’s finest manual transmissions, known for its precise shift action and rewarding driving feel.

The car has covered 122,202 km and benefits from a perfectly documented maintenance history. It has always been well maintained, which is clearly reflected in its overall condition and driving quality. All services are correctly stamped in the original service book. From a documentation perspective, this is a particularly strong example.
