The Maserati Quattroporte I, introduced in 1963, was one of the world's first true high-performance luxury saloons, combining Italian elegance with genuine sportscar performance. Styled by Pietro Frua, the Quattroporte featured clean, restrained lines allied to Maserati's race-bred V8 engine. In 1966, the model was revised with several significant updates, including twin headlamps, a redesigned interior with full-width wood fascia and a move to a leaf-sprung rear axle. With the later introduction of the 4.7 litre engine, the Quattroporte became one of the fastest four-door saloons of its era, capable of a claimed 255km/h (158mph).
This 1967 example represents the more developed iteration of the Quattroporte and is fitted with the highly desirable 4.7 litre engine. The vehicle was originally imported from the United States and is now UK registered as LKE 452E. It currently displays 41,315 kilometres. The vendor advises that the speedometer was previously replaced; at the time of the change, it recorded 53,077 kilometres. A correct Smiths gauge was fitted, and the current reading reflects this adjustment. The car presents as a well-maintained example and is becoming increasingly collectable.
Recent expenditure includes servicing and specialist work carried out by Brodie Engineering in 2018, recognised Citroën and Maserati specialists, together with further servicing by Migliore Cars, a respected Ferrari and Maserati independent specialist. The interior wood has been expertly restored by Chapman &Cliff, enhancing the already elegant cabin, while additional works include new door seals supplied by McGrath Maserati. The car is also accompanied by its original owner's manual and a copy of a previous California Certificate of Title.
