The Maserati Quattroporte (meaning 'four doors' in Italian) is a luxury four-door saloon of which there have been six generations, each separated by a period of approximately seven years. In the early 1960's, Maserati's reputation was increasing, with growing popularity and sales; indeed, Prince Karim Aga Khan ordered a special Maserati 5000 WP, chassis number 103,060, designed by Pietro Frua. The following year, Maserati showed the first generation Quattroporte, with the design by Frua and construction carried out by Vignale. This, the 1963 'Tipo 107' Quattroporte, joined two other notable grand tourers; the Facel Vega and the Lagonda Rapide, which could comfortably do 124mph. In 2004, Maserati commenced production of the Pininfarina designed Quattroporte which, due to its increased weight over the Coupe and Spyder, produced a 0-60mph time of 5.6 seconds with a top speed of 167mph. Unveiled to the world at the Frankfurt Motor Show on 9th September 2003 and making its US premiere at the 2003 Pebble Beach Concours d'Élegance, it continues the long tradition of Quattroporte luxury saloons in the Maserati line-up. The Quattroporte's weight distribution maximises traction and power during acceleration so that the car remains exceptionally stable and well balanced at all times.
This lovely exceptionally low mileage example has had two owners from new and is presented in Ocean Blue metallic with tan leather interior. It comes with a full-service history, including its original sales receipts, and all subsequent services carried out by Lancaster or Ferrari/Maserati specialist Grimaldi engineering. The last service was carried out at 30,251 miles. We are informed that this car has never been driven on winter roads and has always been kept in a dehumidified garage by the present owner. Its sumptuous interior incorporates electric seats, air conditioning, electric windows, electric sunroof, ZF transmission which is the one to have according to all Maserati experts, it transformed the car when Maserati brought it in (initially as an option) to replace the unpopular 'DuoSelect' box. This is probably one of the best examples of this model we have had for sale and is looks fabulous in what is arguably the best colour combination. Consigned by James Good
