The Jaguar XJC is one of the most distinctive and underrated coupes ever produced by the marque. Built between 1975 and 1978, it was the two-door pillarless version of the XJ saloon, combining luxury with an unexpectedly sleek profile. By removing the B-pillar, Jaguar created a long, uninterrupted glasshouse that gave the XJC an elegant, almost custom look, especially with all four windows lowered. Offered with either a straight-six or the legendary V12 engine, the XJC delivered smooth, effortless performance rather than outright sportiness. Its supple suspension and refined ride made it a true grand touring coupe, perfectly suited for long journeys. Inside, the cabin reflected classic Jaguar craftsmanship, featuring leather upholstery, deep carpets, and generous use of walnut veneer. Despite its beauty, the XJC had a short production life due to structural challenges and changing market demands. Today, that rarity adds to its appeal. The Jaguar XJC is now admired as a bold design experiment and a graceful expression of 1970s British luxury.
This desirable 1976 Jaguar XJC is fitted with the straight six 4.2 litre engine and was originally supplied by Coombes of Guildford. Finished in silver with blue interior it's in very good condition and drives well. The engine is fitted with fuel injection, electronic ignition and has the big valve head from a series III XJ, so packs a bit more power than the standard. We are told everything is working as it should. This Jaguar XJC is supplied with a V5 registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in November 2026 and a file of receipts and invoices. Very rare and desirable, this is a collector's car for the future and being fifty years old it is tax and MoT exempt. This example is offered without reserve. Consigned by John Tomlin
