For sale is my 1972 Żuk A15, featuring the rare early round-body design.
A wonderfully unusual Polish classic and a characterful alternative to the usual VW camper. The Żuk is an extremely rare sight in Germany and Western Europe and attracts attention and smiles wherever it goes.
The vehicle is fully registered in Germany, has historic vehicle registration (H-plate), German registration documents/title are present and the German roadworthiness inspection (TÜV/HU) is valid for approximately one more year.
I have owned and regularly driven the Żuk for the past five years, including longer trips to Belgium and France. This is not a vehicle that has spent years sitting in a collection – it has been used and enjoyed as a classic camper.
I have been driving various classic cars for around 20–25 years, and travelling with this Żuk has been a real experience. I am only selling it because I am planning to spend an extended period in Australia and it is time for the next adventure.
Engine & mechanical condition
The original engine has been rebuilt and has covered approximately 4,000 km since the rebuild. Approx . 25.000 km had been Driver before by the Polish pre-owner.
A considerable amount of mechanical work has also been carried out, including work on the running gear, pumps, radiator, starter and various other components.
My Polish mechanic and bodywork specialist knows the vehicle well and can provide further information to a serious buyer if required.
The Żuk is running and driving and can of course be test-driven.
Body & condition
This is an honest, usable 1972 classic – not a freshly restored show vehicle.
There are areas of rust and bodywork that will require attention. It would therefore make a good winter project for somebody who enjoys working on classic vehicles.
The engine loses a small amount of oil from the original rope-type crankshaft sealing system. Replacement sealing material is available and can be included.
I prefer to mention these points openly so that potential buyers, particularly those travelling from abroad, know what to expect.
Camper interior
The wooden camper interior was professionally built by a carpenter, including insulation and sound deadening.
It features a bed conversion and practical storage. Much of the matching camping equipment can also be included, such as storage baskets, gas barbecue, camping stove, hammock and other accessories.
The spare wheel is stored inside the vehicle.
In other words: with a little luggage, the next owner can essentially start the next road trip straight away.
History & documentation
A German classic-car valuation report for €15,000 is available.
The vehicle comes with German registration documents, H-plate historic registration and approximately one year of TÜV/HU remaining.
I have enjoyed the Żuk for five years and would now like to pass it on to someone who appreciates unusual classic vehicles and wants to continue using it rather than simply putting it away.
It is slow, quirky and certainly not perfect – but that is exactly part of its charm.
