1968 | FIAT 850 Spider

In the 1950s and 1960s, Carrozzeria Vignale was part of the very select circle of great Italian coachbuilders. Ferrari, Maserati, Lancia, Fiat, Abarth and Alfa Romeo, but also Aston Martin, Triumph, De Tomaso, Cunningham, AMC, Matra, Jensen and Ford entrusted their chassis to Vignale to be turned into unique automobiles, often built in very small numbers.

The Fiat 850 Spider Vignale is no exception. Produced from 1964 to 1969 in just under 1,000 units, it is far rarer than its Bertone-designed sister. It stands out thanks to a decidedly more luxurious approach: wooden dashboard, chromed wheel arches and sills, Vignale badges in several places, trimmed boot and a soft top that disappears completely behind the passenger seat… Maserati-level treatment for an adorable little Fiat.

One last – and not insignificant – asset: the rear bench is far from symbolic. It can comfortably accommodate two children, or two not-too-tall adults, as shown in the period brochure – a brochure that corresponds exactly to the car offered here.

Our 850 Vignale was fully and meticulously restored in Italy by an old “wizard” with a passion for Fiats, with incredible attention to detail for what was originally a people’s car.

Wherever it goes, heads turn and smiles appear… including yours, behind the wheel, fully immersed in the Dolce Vita.
