THE FAMOUS 5000GT

The Maserati 5000GT is clearly a vehicle created for kings. When the Shah of Persia tested a Maserati 3500 GT in November 1958, he found the performance to be significantly inadequate, leading him to order a more powerful engine for his car, which was to be something truly special. Maserati engineer Giulio Alferi therefore drew on the racing technology of the Maserati 450S, which was driven by renowned drivers such as Juan Manuel Fangio and Sterling Moss.

After Maserati bodied the Shah of Persia's vehicle with a Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera****body, the Maserati 5000GT was born. A limited run of 32 vehicles was crafted by various coachbuilders for kings, stars, and influential people, among which our vehicle is included. Allemano manufactured a total of 22 cars in two different series. The 1st series was equipped with a 4-speed ZF gearbox, and the 2st series with a 5-speed gearbox and three adjustable windows on the doors.

OUR CAR

This beautiful Maserati 5000GT with the VIN 103036 was delivered on February 16, 1962, to the renowned Maserati distributor CORNACCHIA Automobil s.r.l in Turin. In an period article, CORNACCHIA proudly recounts that he sold this 5000GT to his customer, the famous Hollywood actor Stewart Granger. The Maserati was equipped with a ""EE " license plate from the factory. The delivery sheet confirms the purchase of the 5000GT by Stewart Granger, who was likely filming in Italy at the time.

After a year, the Maserati was repainted from "verde" to dark blue at the factory and sold as a used vehicle to the well-known dealer MERZ & PABST in Stuttgart in March 1963. An American officer purchased the vehicle and took it to California, USA. In 1966, some parts for the Maserati were ordered from the factory and delivered to the states. In 1967, the officer was transferred to the Ramstein Air Base in Germany, where he brought his beloved 5000GT. With original 16,000 original kilometers, the vehicle was parked in a small garage in the "Pfalz" region. After the engine developed problems and started leaking oil, the engine block was removed, and the vehicle was not moved since 1967 until the current owner acquired it with the same mileage of 16,000 km!

The Maserati 5000GT underwent a full restoration by marquze specialist Stefan Stähle, where many parts could be preserved due to the low mileage. The vehicle is unwelded and still has its original exhaust system. A similar engine block from an Allemano was acquired in 2007. Stefan Mücke, a specialist in racing technology, and engineer Dr. Doll dedicated themselves to the engine and were able to improve it. The result today is a Maserati 5000GT suitable for everyday use, which can hardly be compared with other sports cars of that time in terms of driving characteristics and sound. The vehicle is full documented with invoices and period pictures. It has German papers and is registered for road use. It is a unique opportunity to acquire this rare vehicle from the small 1st series.
