1966 Chevrolet Chevelle 300 Deluxe pro-touring build with 467 motor. Finished in a stunning GM Verde Green Iridium with Gold Pearl vinyl interior. First registered in Sweden 2015 with two owners since. Chassis number 133116K184158. The car has travelled just 5567km since being built.

This award-winning show car was put together by David Gunnars (@davidanjigunnars on Instagram) who formerly worked as builder and painter at custom car shop Brinkens Garage. David is a builder renowned for the quality of his magazine featured and award-winning pro-touring builds which balance extreme engines and a sharper chassis with the usability of something you can just jump in, turn the key and drive, as was very much the goal with this particular project of his.

From the outside this Chevelle could be mistaken for a trailer queen given its perfect paint and interior – it really looks like it has barely driven a kilometre. But look a little closer under the wheel arches and you will find them filled with remnants of tyres that have obviously been obliterated by that big old Chevy block; certain signs of fun times and of a car that is not afraid of being used and abused. What is most enjoyable about the history of the car is that it not only picked up several awards at major Swedish shows, it was driven rather than trailed to these events, travelling hundreds of kilometres across the country with no drama.

Much time was spent in getting the body into its now better than factory state, with everything straightened and smoothed out and some of the original mouldings and holes welded over. The beautiful, simple 60’s silhouette of the car remains but now sports a far lower, meaner stance, enhanced with the addition of small front spoiler and a larger custom, Pro Street style item on the rear that has become something of a signature on David’s cars and gives away that something potent is laying under the hood. The original hood has been replaced with a reproduction SS item and the arches modified to accommodate a set of beautiful 19” Forgeline GA3 rims with custom painted centres. The car benefits from a totally revised chassis and now rides on digitally controlled air suspension, adjustable at the push of a button.

Inside the seats have been finished in Gold Pearl vinyl which work well with the emerald green paint. The front seats have also been changed from a flat bench style seat to a deeper 'bucket' type to give a little more support and hold in the corners. The original analogue gauges have been replaced with a neat digital unit from Dakota, displaying all relevant information, and these sit behind a newly fitted steering wheel.

Engine: Chevrolet big block, 467 cui (4,310/4,000 inch bore/stroke). GM steel crank, Scat 6.385" H-profile rods, Mahle pistons, 12.5:1 compression ratio. Ported and flow-tested Steve Morris GM oval-port heads, with 2.20"/1.88" valves (in/out). Custom ground mechanical Crower roller camshaft with .605 "/.598" lift, 294/300 degree duration, 112 degree lobe separation, Crower roller lifters and rockers. Professional Products Hurricane intake with Edelbrock 1,600 cfm throttle body and fuel rails. AN8 in and AN6 return, 750 cc Venom distributor, newly fitted fuel tank with in-tank electric fuel pump, type LS ignition coils on laser cut mounts Megasquirt 3 V3.0X engine management, AEM wideband lambda Proform electric water pump, Sanderson shorty headers, 3" exhaust with X-pipe and Flowmaster Delta Flow 50 damper, 3.5-inch last piece. Power: Not benched, should leave around 650 hp. The cam pulls to 7,200 rpm.

Transmission: Chevrolet 4L80E 4-speed truck box with lockup. TCI computer control with fully adjustable shift points, shift pressure and lockup. 11-inch turbine with 3,000 rpm stall speed built by NBV. Chrome moly gimbal. Ford 9-inch rear axle from Moser with carbon fibre diff and 3.55:1 final drive (1,600 rpm at 110 km/h).

Chassis: Frame lift, blasted and painted. CPP 500 Series power steering gear with 10:1 ratio (14:1 original), complete RideTech chassis with RidePRO computer control. colilover air suspension with adjustable FOX dampers, adjustable StrongArms tubular arms front and rear, Musclebar anti-roll bars front and rear, RideTech chrome moly spindles with custom built handlebar stops. Brakes: Hydraulic CPP servo, Wilwood master cylinder, Wilwood Superlite 6-piston calipers on 358mm discs front, Wilwood Superlite 4-piston calipers on 333mm discs rear. Rims: Forgeline GA3 with custom painted centers, 9x19 front, 11x19 rear. Tires: 245/40-19 Dunlop Sport Maxx RT front, 275/40-19 rear (large tread, brand varies).

Body: 2-door pillar, modified fender edges at the rear, raised inner skirts at the front, SS hood, aluminum spoiler from SpoliersByRandy at the front, own wing at the rear. Newly chromed bumpers, the rear one modified for exhaust, own license plate holder at the back, clear glass headlights at the front. Paint: GM Verde Green Iridium. Interior: Dashboard and interior details painted in the car's original color. Newly upholstered seats and door sides in gold pearl vinyl, custom center console with B&M Quicksilver lever, Lokar pedals. JVC head unit, Pioneer 8-inch 3-way speakers in rebuilt high front panels, four 6.5-inch Pioneer with loose tweeters in the hat shelf, two 10-inch Pioneer basses, a monoblock stage and a 4-channel Hertz power stage under the hat shelf . Own panels in the drawer hide stereo stuff and air suspension.
