Offered for sale is a remarkably well-preserved BMW 528i (E12 series) in the rare original color Reseda Green, first registered in September 1980, with 184 hp and a factory 4-speed manual gearbox. The car is in third ownership and has been in my possession for the past 16 years.

It has been meticulously maintained both mechanically and cosmetically. Numerous technical restorations have been carried out professionally over the years, including:

• New original BMW engine (NOS, not a replacement engine), approx. 60,000 km
• Mike Sanders cavity protection treatment
• New clutch
• New shock absorbers
• New steering bar

• Tires replaced four years ago (approx. 2,000 km use)

Vehicle History and Model Background

The BMW 528i belongs to the first-generation 5 Series (E12), produced between 1972 and 1981 – a milestone model that firmly established BMW’s reputation for sporty executive saloons. A model update in 1976 brought various refinements, and the 528i in particular benefitted from BMW’s revered M30B28 inline-six engine with Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection. Known for its smoothness, durability and refined performance, the engine gave the 528i both sporting credentials and exceptional cruising ability.

With 184 hp, the 528i was the top naturally aspirated model in the E12 lineup by 1980. Shortly thereafter, the E12 series was succeeded by the E28, making these late-production examples – like this one – especially desirable to collectors. Original, unrestored cars with documented history and rare colours like Reseda Green are increasingly hard to find.
