ROE are delighted to relist this stunning and fully restored DB6 to market. First delivered to Lancashire in October 1967, this remarkable matching numbers example has been brought back to life at ROE's state-of-the-art workshops.

The Aston Martin DB6 is considered by many to be the last 'real' Aston and was introduced in 1965, updating the DB5. Although recognisably related to the Touring-styled DB4 of 1958, the DB6 abandoned the Carrozzeria Touring-developed Superleggera body structure of its predecessors in favour of a conventional steel fabrication while retaining the aluminium outer panels. The Tadek Marek-designed six-cylinder engine had been enlarged to 3,995cc for the preceding DB5 and remained unchanged. Borg-Warner automatic transmission was offered alongside the standard ZF five-speed gearbox.

Chassis number ‘DB6/3240/R spent some of it’s early life in the USA, but then returned to its birthplace, after being purchased by Mr. Carpenter in 2014 who had planned to restore the car. Unfortunately, both he and the following owner, a Mr. Brownhill (2016), were unable to find the time. As a result, the car remained in a red oxide primer until 2019 when it was purchased by a London based businessman. He brought the car to Richards of England and commissioned them to carry out a full "no expense spared" restoration.

Following its 2,500-hour restoration, the DB6 was and remains something of unparalleled quality. For example, the fabrication of the chassis, Superleggera frame and aluminium panel work contributed over 800 hours alone. The newly instated aluminium front nose cone was hand formed over an original buck, carried out by industry experts, Body Lines of Olney. The latest rust prevention products and processes have also been applied following the fabrication stage. Hundreds of photographs detailing all aspects of the restoration stages and processes can be found on the ROE website, providing the future custodian documentation of the craftmanship.

Finished in its original livery of Pacific Blue over a Natural Connolly Vaumol leather trim (VM846), the DB6 stayed true to its build sheet and looks truly elegant as a result. If you take a peek inside you’ll be met with a beautifully restored dashboard, iconic Smith’s clocks, a period radio and Wilton Wool carpeting. All of which allow the owner to experience the quality and tactile feel of something restored, not forgetting the distinctive aroma of the Connolly hide. All honing to something that delivers a very elegant and satisfying experience.

DB6/3240/R was sold following its restoration to the current owner in August 2022. Being based in Norfolk, they have thoroughly enjoyed their time owning the DB6 for the past year and driving it, albeit sparingly, through the picturesque villages of the Norfolk Broads. Like many owners, they change their cars often, and so ROE was thrilled when they chose them to market the car again. The DB6 has been meticulously cared for and stored within a climate-controlled garage. Its "as restored" condition is a true testament to the high level of care the current custodian provided throughout the past year.

Despite its immaculate looks, driving this example is perhaps when this car is best appreciated. The ZF power steering option, fitted as standard equipment from factory, offers the perfect balance of steering feedback for parking in a quaint village or driving along windy British roads. The comprehensive engine rebuild (to 4.2l) featuring Cosworth pistons, with a full dyno power graph, has been combined with a Tremec 5-speed manual gearbox upgrade. This offers a superior driving experience. It's also worth noting that the original Borg-Warner auto box still remains with the DB6, should you wish to revert back to this option.

A complete mechanical overhaul to the underside of the vehicle, suspension, brakes, axle/differential, fuel system and engine bay took place during the restoration. A completely new wiring harness was also installed, often an afterthought with many other restorations. It is worth noting various other subtle and sensible upgrades were chosen to enhance the driving and ownership experience. All of which have been inspected and signed off at the ROE workshops on its return.

Notable upgrades and equipment following the restoration:
• Comprehensive engine rebuild to 4.2L specification.
• 5 speed manual Tremec gearbox.
• Complete axle/differential rebuild.
• High torque starter motor.
• Uprated Harvey Bailey anti roll bar kit.
• Brand new cast manifolds wrapped in race spec webbing.
• Period radio with Bluetooth & handsfree capability.
• Full stainless-steel exhaust system.
• Aluminium radiator & oil cooler.
• Uprated Smith’s interior blower motors.
• Uprated window lift motors for smoother and quicker delivery.
• Sound and heat proofing fitted throughout.

Documenting this example and its restoration is truly exhaustive. The DB6 cannot be truly appreciated from an online shop window. A visit and test drive is highly recommended at our rural Lincolnshire premises.
