1967 | Volvo 1800 S

We are very pleased to offer this Swedish built Volvo P1800 S Coupe onto the market. Production of the Volvo P1800 originally began in the UK and assembly was at Jensen Motors. Volvo later had quality concerns which led to moving assembly to its Lundby plant in Gothenburg in 1963. From 1961 to 1972 little around 40,000 P1800/1800 series cars were built, but specifically, in 1967 just 4500 units of the P1800 S were built. Our 1967 example was first registered on the 3rd November 1967 and is one of the highly desirable P1800 S models. The 1967 model represents a pivotal moment in Volvo’s history, highlighting a move to Swedish manufacturing and delivering a timeless design with mechanical robustness and cultural impact. These cars are held in such high regard and of course, very famous for ‘The Saint’ TV program and for one model clocking 3 million miles, these really are wonderful driving, strong robust cars.

MNR 123F is a lovely example, it has all the hall marks of a high quality original car that has had light regular use for the past 25 years but also in 2015 it was subject of a program of major work. From MOT certificates we can see the Volvo had a recorded mileage of 98700 in 2002 and 23 years on the Volvo has covered just 3500 miles since then. Whilst mileage has been super low, MOT's do show regular but low usage and the car has clearly been well maintained throughout this period. In September 2015 £16,000 was spent on the Volvo, this included a body restoration and re-paint with a Coachworks company in Dorset.

Our Volvo presents very well with a gleaming, deep finish, clean straight body panels and lovely chrome work throughout. The engine bay has a lovely level of detail, the underside is structurally excellent and the interior feels highly original and in lovely order. The super stylish art deco style dials and dashboard are fantastic, the upholstery all lovely and the carpets and headlining smart. On the road the car feels fantastic, the engine is super strong and fit offering impressive performance, the gearbox is lovely and slick, the overdrive comes in and out smoothly and the Volvo handles perfectly and feels tight, direct and very responsive.
