1977 | Ford Escort RS 2000

The Ford Escort Mk. II RS2000, was produced from 1975 to 1980, and is a legendary rally car that has become an icon in motorsport history. Renowned for its performance and handling, the RS2000 was powered by a 2.0 litre engine, generating around 115bhp and allowing for impressive acceleration and agility on both roads and rally stages. Its distinctive styling makes it a standout model in the Escort lineup and a firm favourite for Ford collectors. Weighing in at just over 900kg, the Mk. II RS2000 benefitted from a lightweight construction, paired with a sport-tuned suspension that enhanced its cornering ability. The car enjoyed considerable success in motorsport, contributing to Ford's dominance in rallying during the late '70s.

This particular example has been uprated for fast road use with the addition of a modern Zetec twin-cam engine running on side draught Dellorto carburettors mated to a Sierra five speed gearbox. The suspension has been changed for stiffer, lower suspension to improve the handling and the front brakes are understood to be from a Capri 2.8 injection. A roll cage has also been fitted to complete the fast road package. The car was purchased in December in 2023 by our vendors partner who has always promised himself one and they thoroughly enjoyed it however the car is now being sold due to him sadly passing away. The previous owner purchased the car in 1997 and used it very little. We are informed since purchase in December 2023, our vendors partner, who was a mechanic by trade, re-commissioned various parts on the car and used it regularly. Supplied to auction with a V5C registration document and some invoices detailing works across the years.
