Beschreibung
One of presumably 32 6C 2500 SS which have been built in the utterly elegant Villa d Este body style. Of these 32, 21 cars are known to exist to date.
Vin 915900 was dispatched at Touring on 03-08-51 to its first owner, Riccardo Giamundo from Naples, who was at that time only 25 years old and who found an untimely death in Venezuela just a couple of years later. In 1972, it was registered near Rome. Subsequently, it has found its way into the catacombs of Naples. It was discovered there in 2005, when the now famous Tunnel Borbonico was discovered and excavated, a previously unknown network of subterranean vaults and hallways, in which a considerable number of classic cars were found, obviously seized by the local police decades ago, for tax or whatever reasons. The Galleria Borbonica now forms a tourist attraction with guided tours below the surface of Naples. Most of the less valuable or non-restorable cars which had been discovered are still on display in these catacombs.
When found, the Alfa was in a derelict, but almost complete state and was subsequently restored in Italy and Germany, taking care to preserve all original substance.
Restoration started in 2007. Bodywork was done by Mabert, Torino, mechanics by Grillo, Biella. The original, damaged engine was saved and restored with tremendous effort in Germany by Christian Wallner, Munich and the final assembly, upholstery etc. was performed by Graumann, Wuppertal. Just recently the original engine has been completely overhauled again by Julian Messent, HC Services, Antwerp, utilizing a new crankshaft, white metal bearings and new connecting rods, pistons, valves and everything that goes with it.
This beautiful Coupe has been invited to the “One lake, one car” event at VdE eight times and participates six times. It was also a participant at Pebble Beach 2017 and the Villa d Este Concours in 2022.
