The NSU Ro 80 was a four-door upper-middle class sedan from NSU that was on the market between 1967 and 1977. The car had an aerodynamic body that was ahead of its time and was voted Car of the Year in 1968. In addition, the Ro 80 had a Wankel engine, which was unusual. The NSU Spider was the first to receive such an engine in 1963. A total of 37,374 units were produced during the ten-year production period.

In the Wald-und-Schlosshotel in Friedrichsruhe, 30 km east of Neckarsulm, Messrs. Praxl (project leader), Froede (research), Sussner (production) and Strobel (construction) met.
