Description
About this MG B
---------------
This stunning and almost 'As New' MGB Roadster - Chassis No: GHN5/460470G was built by MG in Abingdon in early 1978 and was first registered to its first owner in North West London on 27th March 1978. The car had a further 2 owners before being purchased 35 years ago by the current Doctor owner from TVR main agents Classcars West One in London W1 for £3,700 on 18th May 1987.
He immediately set about restoring the car and it was the subject of a very extensive rebuild which included many new body panels, new inner and outer Sills, new Castle rails, new glass, new chrome mouldings, new stainless steel petrol tank, all new rubber seals, wiring, suspension components, brakes, cooling system components, new interior including new leather seat covers, a complete bare metal repaint and change of colour from its original Inca Yellow to a beautiful Duck Egg Blue and finally a new Gold Seal Engine supplied by MG International was installed in December 1987.
There are a huge number of invoices in the history file for all works and parts purchased totalling £8,261.25, which in 1987 was a lot of money then and the mileage on the speedometer when it was finished and MOT'd in April 1988 was 6,714 miles and it now reads 40,140, so it has covered 33,424 on the new Gold Seal Engine.
From 1987 to 1995 the car was looked after by a garage in Southport and the Doctor owner then moved back to London in 1996 when the car was subsequently looked after by Hart Racing Services in Park Royal, London NW10. They carried out lots of work on the car for him including the fitting a new Mohair Roof and soft top frame, a new Stainless Steel Sports Exhaust System, Weber Carburettor conversion, a new 'Unleaded' Cylinder Head, new Clutch hydraulics, rear Suspension bushes, a Cobra Alarm system, new Walnut Dashboard, Electric Windows conversion, new Wooden Door Cappings, a new Pioneer Stereo/CD Changer with Bazooka Speakers, new Boot trim kit, Battery Cut-Off switch, new Rear Brakes, Electric Windows, a new Carpet set, a new Daytona leather Steering Wheel and Boss, 5 new Mini-Lite style Alloy Wheels, new Tyres, new Shock Absorbers and Springs and much much more including routine servicing and between 1996 and 2005 he spent a £9,688 with Hart Racing.
From 2006 until 2009 the car was taken to specialist Enginuity in Acton who carried out further works and improvements totalling £2,600, but due to the Doctors work commitments away from London, the car was put into dry storage in 2010 and was only taken out again in August 2021 when it was delivered to Enginuity for re-commissioning. Their invoice includes a major service, new battery, new water pump, new thermostat and hoses and gaskets etc. plus a new MOT all coming to £2,396.86.
So since purchasing the car in 1987, he has spent a total of £22,946 restoring, servicing and improving the car and it is genuinely in exceptional condition throughout and is without doubt one of the best 'Rubber Bumper' MGB's currently for sale in the UK and we guarantee that you will not find a better one anywhere!
It is with great reluctance that the owner has given us the car to sell for him after 35 years, but he would now like someone else to enjoy his pride and joy!
The car is clear on all HPi registers and upon sale it will come with a new MOT and pre-sales service + our own 6 Month Mechanical Warranty and it is ULEZ and Road Tax free!
