Description

Launched at the Earls Court Motor Show in October 1962, the MGB is a two-seater sports car manufactured and marketed by the British Motor Corporation (BMC), later British Leyland. The MGB brought MG’s sports cars into the modern day, with its attractive slab-sided roadster body. Remaining in production until 1980 the MGB was Britain’s most successful sports car. The B utilised a monocoque chassis instead of the traditional body-on-frame construction used on both the MGA, MG T-Types and the MGB’s rival, the Triumph TR series. Powered by British Leyland’s 95bhp B-Series engine the MGB offered spritely performance. The MGB also proved itself in the motorsport arena, successfully competing in events such as the Mote Carlo Rally, Spa 1000, Targa Florio and quickly became a favourite of many club racer.

The MGB ‘FIA’ Roadster offered here at Autostorico is an early 1964 ‘pull’ door handle car with narrow transmission tunnel.  Built to pre-1965 specification by MG Motorsport this highly competitive car is finished in Sky Blue with contrasting White roof. Specification highlights include; an aluminium alloy fuel tank with electric pump, carbon fibre race seat, fully plumbed Lifeline extinguisher system, full roll cage with door bars and full harness seat belt which are all in date until February 2022. The engine has been race built with under 10 hours running, fitted with a Weber carburettor and electronic radiator fan.

This is a perfect opportunity to own a proven MGB ready for the season ahead at a fraction of the cost required to build it to the correct specification. Eligible for Pre 63GT, Motoring Legends, Equipe GT Series and Spa 6 hours.

Supplied with current FIA HTP papers valid until 2029 for Racing, Hill Climb and Rally use, spare wheels and tyres and spares package.

Viewing strictly by appointment.
