Description

Produced on August 18, 1958 for the American market (sold in New York), this wonderful example of XK150 FHC actually spent most of its life in Italy, having had its first Italian license plate already in 1976.

Originally black with a red interior, the car recieved a complete restoration about 6 years ago - accompanied by documentation and approximately 50,000 euros in invoices - in which the Indigo blue combination with tobacco leather interior was preferred to the original colours. After few kilometers from the end of the works, the car is in excellent condition, complete with all the correct details of the period; the overdrive – original equipment – improves the use of the Moss gearbox, the only Achilles heel of this car, as well as on the first Jaguar E-type, the model that replaced the XK150. Despite being over sixty years old, this car is still extremely pleasant to drive nowadays, relying on a brilliant engine and a powerful braking system: it is a perfect GT car that adapts to country roads as well as long motorway sections. Like all cars of the time, to be usable in today's traffic, it is fitted with an additional electric fan that helps maintain the correct operating temperatures.

By the the certificate of origin, the car is "matching numbers" and with the aforementioned document, the Jaguar Heritage Certificate, in addition to the ASI Identity Certificate with its homologation plate; italian plates with orange province and title, correctly registered as 2+2 places.

The dated shape of the XK140 was updated with the 150, initially produced only in the coupé and convertible versions to which the roadster (OTS) was added in 1958. More space inside, greater visibility, fine finishes and a brilliant engine are the peculiarities of car undoubtedly destined to increase its value in the future, being the progenitor of the splendid E-type, whose prices are now under everyone's eyes. In fact, with 193 horsepower, overdrive, four-wheel disc brakes and brake booster, the XK150 represented the best you could have on a grand tourer of the late 1950s.
