August Horch is considered one of the pioneers of the German car industry. One of his first roles was the leadership of Carl Benz's "Motorwagenbau". In 1899, however, August Horch decided to go out on his own. Due to some financial trouble, a Saxon entrepreneur acquired Horch-Werke and August Horch became its Technical General Manager. Unfortunately, he was pushed out of the company in 1909, a fate he shared with many founders in the car industry. Dr. Moritz Straus acquired the majority of Hoch-Werke in 1920 and a 8-cylinder engine, designed by Paul Daimler, became a huge success. With the 853 Hoch became the leading model among 8-cylinder engines in Germany.
Our Horch 853 Cabriolet comes with a special body by the exclusive Voll u. Ruhrbeck in Berlin. Only 5-8 of these cars have been built. A true enthusiast and Horch lover completely restored the oldtimer in 2013. In some safety areas, e.g. brakes, the original version got upgraded. A more perfect Horch 853 is currently not on the market!
