AMC Marlin Classic Cars for Sale

The AMC Marlin Rambler was launched in 1965 by the American Motors Corporation to cater to the growing market for persinal luxury vehicles. The Rambler was only in production for two years, but has spawned decades of admiration for the AMC Marlin brand. From the '65 Rambler Marlin branded model, through to the 1966-1967 AMC Marlin variant, many of these vehicles are still on the road today, either in restored or customised form. 

History of the AMC Marlin Rambler

With the consumer boom in the 1960s, more and more car manufacturers opted to create opulent, grand vehicles that would focus on comfort and style rather than economy, as had been the case in many vehicles immediately following World War II. After attempts to build a fastback were met with a lukewarm reception in tests, The AMC Marlin Rambler was finally unveiled as a large, comfortable vehicle built on a budget that was only a fraction of the competitors at the time. The early reception to this model was mixed, but over time, American consumers, spurred on by vehicle journalists who had fallen in love with the car's quirky characteristics, began to open up to the pillar less design and sporty nature of this relatively cheap car. Races such as the Daytona 24 hour endurance tested the vehicle, although ultimately it could not cope with such intensive demand and overheated. For the brief two years of production, however, the AMC Marlin enjoyed a respectable run amongst families, teenagers and businessmen alike. 

Collectors and Spin Offs

The AMC Marlin has left a legacy, with collectors buying up functional and non-running models and ensuring that the AMC brand still enjoys time on the road, regardless of the changes in engine build and size as AMC tweaked the model as they went along. In the early 2000s, Chrysler paid homage to the AMC Marlin by designing the Crossfire; a sleeker but still flattering variant of the Marlin. However, it is not uncommon for all variants of this car from 1966-1968's brief production to be out on the roads today in America and elsewhere in the world.
