The Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow was a luxury saloon car built from 1965 through to 1980 and was the first Rolls-Royce to be constructed using a monocoque chassis and, to date, has the largest production volume of any Rolls-Royce. The original Shadow was three and a half inches narrower and seven inches shorter than its predecessor, the Silver Cloud, but managed to offer increased passenger and luggage space thanks to more efficient packaging. Aside from a more modern appearance and construction, the Silver Shadow introduced many new features such as disc brakes replacing drum brakes and independent rear suspension rather than the ageing live axle design of previous models. It featured a 189bhp 6.75 litre V8 engine from 1970 onwards, mated to a Turbo Hydromantic 400 transmission supplied by General Motors. The superb ride quality achieved in the Shadow was thanks to the innovative high-pressure hydraulic system with dual circuit braking and hydraulic self-levelling suspension.

This lovely Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow was sold new to a Mr H Peers of Bolton, Lancashire who took delivery on 1st November 1973 from Lex Mead (Manchester) Ltd. He owned the car for the next 34½ years when it was acquired by Earlsbrook Holdings on behalf of Mr. Jesper Jarlaek on 3rd March 2008 with the odometer reading 12,432 miles. The current owner purchased the car on 22nd November 2023 at 23,526 miles and has used it sparingly only adding a further 500 miles on the clock. This Silver Shadow has good service history with the service book stamped up to 8th December 1995 the last entry in the book and service invoices from 2007 mostly at marque specialists Classic Restorations and Hillier Hill.

Finished in Shell Grey, pinstriped with dark blue and a navy blue Connolly hide leather interior, this lovely Silver Shadow is supplied with a V5 registration document, the original wallet containing the handbook, warranty card and stamped service book, all the original tools and a file containing service and repair invoices and old MoT test certificates going back to 2007. Silver Shadows of this quality and condition very rarely come to market and it appears that good Shadow values are on the rise. Consigned by John Tomlin
