It’s a pleasure to once again welcome LG9575 onto the showroom floor here at Foxfields she comes in at client number 243 which is exactly 100 cars after her previous appearance.
The latest sporting two-seater from the Riley made its debut at the 1931 Olympia Motor Show as part of its latest range for the 1932 season. The Gamecock attracted considerable interest, with its sporting coachwork featured a long tail offering practical luggage capacity, so idea for those long-awaited much need romantic weekends away. The fold-flat windscreen provided the opportunity to experience flies on your teeth down a country road. The hood is easy to erect and gives good shelter in the sudden summer downpours. Hood, up or down they have an attractive and purposeful appearance.
LG9575 has been very active in the VSCC and Riley circles in the past, a photo taken on the 22nd April 1978 shows her then custodian Roger Andrews hustling her through Woodcote at Sliverstone at VSCC Spring Start as it has become known, distinctive slightly raised rear mudguards apparent even back then, these are reputed to have been located this way for trialing which has been another favourite past time for previous custodians.
Inevitably with an 88-year-old car, maintenance is required as things do wear out. However, on a plus side LG9575 has only covered 1500 miles since 2007. And in 2007 invoices indicate the following jobs were completed rear axle rebuild with new 5:1 CWP, Riley IMP profiled cams fitted, along with cylinder head rebuild, more recently having the magneto overhauled so in the short term little should be needed as oil pressure is very good. So if you’re in the market for a very usable/practical two-seater, make a trip to the delightful Ribble Valley I could have the ideal car waiting for you.
