The Renault 5 is a car model of the French manufacturer Renault and was introduced on January 28, 1972. The Renault 5 was sold until 1996 and has sold 7.3 million units. The first generation Renault 5 was launched in 1972 with an advertising campaign with the text (used in the Netherlands) "Bonjour, I am the Renault 5, I am also called Supercar!". The design, reinforced polyester skid plates and a fifth door, among other things, made the new Renault a car that could be used both in the city and on the motorway. Under the skin, the 5 was very much like the Renault 4, such as the front-wheel drive, torsion suspension, gearbox (the first Renault 5's had, just like the R4, the gear lever in the dashboard, later versions had a floor shift) and the 850cc- engine also came from the Renault 4. Larger engines, up to 1400 cc, were also available and came from the Renault 8, Renault 12 and Renault 18. The car was widely sold worldwide and more variants of the car became available. There was also a rally version of the Renault 5 with a mid-engine, the Renault 5 Turbo. This should not be confused with the Renault 5 GT Turbo, which had the engine (like all other Renault 5s) in the front.
The days before the Paris Motor Show in September 1984, a large number of billboards in France were adorned with a drawing of the first generation Renault 5 saying 'goodbye' to the cruel world. Its successor, generation 2, the Super5 or Supercinq, looked quite similar to its predecessor, but was renewed from front to rear. It was more spacious and more economical. Clearly recognizable were the shield bumpers, the rear lights and the black shield above. The new 5 had a larger interior because it was a bit longer and wider, but also because the engine was now placed transversely, as in the Renault 9 and Renault 11.
This GT Turbo car was rolled off the production line in the late summer of 1986, on 25-09-1986 to be precise. What a picture this copy is. As far as we are concerned, in the most correct version, the red exterior in combination with the alloy sports rims and the immaculate interior make this 5 GT Turbo a pleasure for every enthusiast. And then to talk about the condition of this Renault, whether you look at the car from below, above or from the side, this copy is really in factory condition. Although restored, everything is original and in original condition. An enthusiast has been working on this and that is reflected in everything. Are you also a Renault enthusiast? Then you should not deny yourself having seen this beauty. You probably already hear it a bit, we are secretly in love with it ourselves. We would therefore like to invite you to come and admire this Renault in real life. The coffee is ready!
