The 996 generation (1997-2006) marked a new dawn in the history of the 911. The most significant development was the new water-cooled engine, rather than the traditional air-cooled version, but the entire car was overhauled from its predecessor, the 993.

Progressively restrictive noise regulations, environmental concerns, and a higher expectation for refinement, made the switch necessary. Other major changes include a completely new platform with more streamlined bodywork, and a re-designed interior. Visually, the new 'fried egg' headlamps replaced the previous 'bug eye' lights and are only present on the 996. The performance characteristics remained superb with reliability at its core. The 996 was another step forward for Porsche, making cars that not only excited existing owners, but appealed to those who wanted a comfortable and practical sports car that could sprint to 60mph in a shade over five seconds.

This delightful example has been owned by our vendor for the past nine years. She is a serial 911 owner, having previously owned, among others, a 964-generation of the Stuttgart superstar. The usability of the 996 drew her to the model and she has spared little expense keeping it in the condition you see here. The bodywork needs some minor cosmetic attention, however the gorgeous tan leather interior is in fine order. This 996 is supplied with a brand-new MOT and has been in the care of Porsche specialists throughout our vendor's ownership, with previous main dealer service history as well.
