Known internally as the 964, Porsche's new generation 911 debuted in 1989 and was available in two (Carrera 2) and four-wheel drive (Carrera 4) guises with its familiar silhouette clothing a radically revamped platform. Boasting a drag coefficient of just 0.32 thanks to its deeper bumpers, smoother sills and flatter floorpan, high-speed stability was maintained by a self-deploying rear spoiler which rose above 48mph. Powered by an extensively reworked 3.6 litre air-cooled flat-six equipped with twin spark plugs per cylinder and a re-mapped Bosch Motronic fuel injection, the 964 claimed an impressive 250bhp and 229lbft of torque. Fitted with a five-speed manual gearbox as standard, most variants were reputed to be capable of 0-60mph in 5.3 seconds with a top speed of over 160mph. The 964 was the last air-cooled 911 produced by the Stuttgart firm and represented the end of an era. The Carrera 4 representing the most user-friendly and driveable of the Carrera family.

This iconic and desirable model is presented in Guards Red with a white interior and has a black hood. Purchased by the present owner in 2017, he used for about six months before work commitments and COVID hit and the car was then mothballed and put into storage. It has recently been refreshed externally and partially internally. It comes with a full history up to our clients purchase in 2017 and has its original service books. There hasn't been a huge amount done to the vehicle mechanically since his purchase, hence the relative lack of recent history with the exception of some parts invoices and a service from a dealership in the Crystal Palace area. The car does not have a current MoT test certificate and this Porsche will need to be recommissioned prior to being driven on the road and therefore transport from the auction would be necessary. It is sold as a non-runner, so will require some TLC but it is an absolutely ideal starting point for a resto-mod build and with the way 964 prices have gone, it's a very worthwhile project for someone wanting to keep it original.
