The Mercedes Benz SLS AMG was the first car ever developed entirely in house by AMG, and clearly nobody in Affalterbach was interested in making a modest debut. They could have started with something sensible, but instead they created a rear wheel drive supercar with Gullwing doors, a hand built naturally aspirated V8 and a bonnet so long that the rest of the car seems to arrive a few seconds later. Underneath sits the legendary 6.2 litre M159 V8, producing 571 horsepower and sending everything to the rear wheels through the AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7 gearbox. No turbochargers, no hybrid assistance and no artificial soundtrack. Just eight cylinders doing exactly what eight cylinders should do, with one of the most recognisable AMG soundtracks ever fitted to a road car.
This particular SLS is exactly the type we like. First registered in Germany on 29 March 2011, this example is finished in 756U MANUFAKTUR Himalaya Mid Grey Metallic over 501A Exclusive Black and Anthracite Leather. It is a very strong and very uncommon combination on the SLS. Himalaya Mid Grey has a beautifully understated character in the shade, but once the light catches the metallic flake it really comes alive. The car presents largely in its original paint and the overall condition is exceptionally strong. The specification is just as good. Factory equipment includes the High End Sound System, Rear View Camera, AMG Performance steering wheel, Memory Package, Exclusive Leather, Black Dinamica headliner, COMAND APS with DVD changer, automatic climate control, electrically folding mirrors, tyre pressure monitoring, Bi Xenon headlights, sports suspension and the original 19 and 20 inch AMG wheels. The car has covered 67,000 kilometres from new, and what makes that mileage especially convincing is the quality of the documented history behind it. It comes with its original German vehicle documents, Mercedes Benz book set, digital Mercedes Benz service dossier, German inspection records, vehicle data card, CarVertical report and paint depth measurement. The Mercedes Benz digital service history documents the car very consistently over more than a decade, with frequent maintenance, no unexplained gaps and servicing carried out within the official Mercedes Benz dealer network.
The most recent Mercedes Benz service was completed on 22 June 2026 at 66,762 km. That visit included Service A with Plus Package, fresh brake fluid and replacement of the key battery, so the car is completely up to date. And that is exactly what makes this SLS so appealing. Yes, it has been driven, but far more importantly, it has been properly looked after. Everything about it gives the impression of a car that has been used exactly as intended and maintained properly while doing so.In fact, out of the SLS examples we have driven, this is one of the very best.
A collector car does not necessarily need to have spent fifteen years staring at the same garage wall. There is something very appealing about an SLS that has actually been enjoyed, especially when the history shows that it has been cared for just as seriously as it has been driven.
Now available at RNR Classics, fully checked, freshly serviced and ready to be driven exactly as an SLS should be.
