The Fiat X1/9 is a small sports car that Fiat built from 1972 to 1988 under the 128 model group. The car was designed and developed by Carozzeria Bertone, which is why it is popularly known simply as the “Bertone”.

The Fiat X 1/9 Bertone was designed as a “safety convertible”. It is a coupé with targa roof and roll bar. Apart from the Mercedes-Benz S-Class 116 series, the Fiat X1/9 is the only vehicle of its generation to meet the crash requirements demanded by the US authorities for 1975.

History

The Bertone was acquired by the current owner 5 years ago in a trade-in with an acquaintance.

Due to his technical background as a former car dealer, he allowed the vehicle with H license plates as a seasonal vehicle because it quickly became apparent that he really enjoyed driving the X1/9 Bertone on a daily basis.

He has now sold his dealership and no longer needs this Bertone for everyday use and would therefore be delighted if this nippy little sports car could put a smile on the face of a new owner as soon as he drives it.

The Tüv has expired and apparently no elementary repairs are evident, apart from the usual little things, as the Bertone has not been moved much for about 2 years now.

The engine starts without any problems, the steering does not appear to have too much play, even the window regulators work. Apart from a small deformation (not bad, but more than a dent) on the front left fender between the wheel arch and the A-pillar, there appears to be no significant damage.

The leather of the seats is cracked over a large area on the surface, but not torn through. There are options here to save the original leather or simply replace it as desired.

The current owner bought the car with less than 100,000 km on the clock and assumes that the current total mileage is 104,000 km.

Market classification and price

Really good examples today often reach the €20,000 mark.

Average Bertone cars are priced between €7,000 and €12,000.

Conclusion

This Bertone is pretty far ahead in terms of driving pleasure and appears solid. Whether the seats have patina or are worn out is up to you to decide.
