There are cars so iconic that you recognize them instantly on the street. This Ferrari Dino 246 GT is one of those cars. Not because it is loud or showy. Quite the opposite. It is the combination of elegant lines, compact proportions, and those unmistakable seventies shapes that somehow make it timeless.

This is a Ferrari 246 GT L Series built in early 1970, when the Dino was still new and Ferrari had no idea that this so called junior Ferrari would grow into one of the most desirable classics in their entire history.

Of the approximately 3,761 Dinos ultimately produced, only 357 were built in this L Series specification. And most of those no longer retain their original color combination and original engine. This example does. Matching numbers and matching colors in Rosso Dino over Nero with optional red leather inserts. Exactly as shown in the 1969 brochure. Even Tony Curtis drove this color combination in The Persuaders.

The 246 GT entered the market as the successor to the Dino 206 GT. The idea was to offer a more accessible Ferrari, though notably without a Ferrari badge. The Dino was named after Enzo Ferrari’s son Alfredo, who passed away at a young age. A car with its own identity, yet undeniably powered by a Ferrari heart. In this case a 2.4 liter V6 mounted transversely in the middle. Producing approximately 195 horsepower and delivering a sound reminiscent of vintage Formula 2 cars. Raw, urgent, and musical.

The L Series distinguishes itself through details appreciated by enthusiasts. Center lock wheels with knock off nuts, headrests mounted directly to the bulkhead, a trunk lid with external latch, and license plate lighting integrated into the bumper. Individually these are small touches, but together they define the original and pure expression of the 246.

And honestly, the proportions of this car are perfect. It is compact, low, and light, yet full of presence. The body was built by Scaglietti and designed by Pininfarina. The interior is exactly what you want. Analog, restrained, yet with just the right amount of flair. And those seats with red accents are something you rarely encounter today.

What makes this car even more special is its history. Originally delivered new in Italy and always treated with care. Thanks to restoration and mechanical work, this Ferrari presents in very good condition both visually and technically. The 246 leaves a strong impression and the materials used are of high quality. The interior immediately shows thoughtful craftsmanship and harmony in every detail. A beautiful and well sorted Ferrari that drives exactly as you would hope.

In short, you are looking at a Dino you rarely encounter. In very good condition, matching numbers, finished in a striking color combination, and specified in the rare configuration collectors seek. And once you hear it run, you immediately understand why this car is now considered part of Ferrari heritage.
